What We Talk About When we Talk About Love

Small fingers that cup the air
and my chin—

Loneliness that drags
like a melancholy skirt.

We rub our noses,
snort & laugh about holding
hands, or the
inevitability of touch.

Eyes
thick as blueberries;
words
much thicker.
